Comic Strips for Change, Dasra, Jan 2020
The design intends to translate complex social issues into visually compelling, hand-drawn narratives, using a crayon-textured style that reflects the raw, unfinished nature of progress. In collaboration with Dasra, a pioneering organization that accelerates social change through strategic philanthropy, three 9-panel comics were created to highlight critical gender justice themes:
- Sports Beyond the Game – How NGOs use sports to build girls’ agency, the role of community role models, and the resistance faced when traditional norms are challenged.

- Fighting Child Marriage – A visual narrative on how grassroots intervention requires collaboration with police, local leaders, and families to prevent child marriage and mitigate its impact.

- Gender Equity & Boys – A school-based story exploring why engaging men and boys is essential for lasting gender justice, despite pushback from educators and households.

Dasra’s commitment to transforming India through equity-driven initiatives aligns with the power of art as advocacy. These comics aim to simplify complex issues, spark dialogue, and amplify grassroots efforts through accessible storytelling. The rough, organic strokes mirror the nonlinear, deeply personal nature of social change, making each story feel immediate and real.
